Journey iOS & Mac OS Tahoe Update: Liquid Glass Design and AI Reflection Powered by Apple’s Foundation Model
We’re excited to introduce one of our most significant updates yet for Journey on iOS 26, iPad OS 26 and Mac OS 26. This release brings a complete visual transformation with Apple’s Liquid Glass design language, alongside a new journaling reflection feature powered by the Apple’s Foundation Model.
A Fresh Look: Liquid Glass Design
Journey now feels more immersive and fluid than ever. Every corner of the app has been reimagined with Apple’s new Liquid Glass interface, delivering depth, elegance, and motion in ways that make your journaling experience more delightful.
Passcode Page
A sleek glass-styled button welcomes you into your journal. The Journey logo itself now appears with a subtle liquid glass treatment.
Navigation & Toolbars
Both top navigation and bottom toolbars adopt a translucent liquid glass effect, letting you peek through to your journal underneath.
Carousel Throwbacks
Entry throwbacks now glide in a liquid glass carousel, givings your memories an extra sparkle.
Media View
Photos and videos inside entries are beautifully framed in a liquid glass-styled carousel, echoing the main page design.
Calendar View
Redesigned to showcase dates and memories in a liquid glass overlay, while the quick date picker scroll highlights the fluidity of the new UI.
Media Attachment Picker
Selecting images and videos feels more cohesive and modern with a liquid glass redesign.
Editing Experience
Even the editing interface has been streamlined, with liquid glass toolbars that feel beautiful and lighter.
Every animation and transition flows with liquid glass smoothness, giving your journaling sessions a modern, inspiring atmosphere.
Reflect Deeper with AI
Beyond design, Journey introduces Reflection, a new offline AI-powered feature built on Apple’s Foundation Model. Reflection helps you revisit past entries and explore your current thoughts more deeply.
Reflecting on Past Entries
Start a new entry, tap Reflection, and Journey will surface snippets from your earlier journals. Each snippet is paired with follow-up questions designed to prompt self-discovery.
Example: If you wrote about stress at work, you might see the question: “How are things at work now?”
This makes revisiting your past a thoughtful, engaging experience.
Reflecting While Writing
Reflection also works in real time while you’re journaling. When the app senses a pause in your writing, it gently prepares prompts to help you expand your thoughts. A thought bubble icon will appear in the top-right corner—tap it to reveal suggestions that encourage deeper exploration.
Whether you’re reflecting on the past or expanding the present, Reflection transforms your journaling into a more mindful and insightful practice.
The Liquid Glass design and AI Reflection are rolling out in our latest update for iOS 26 and Mac OS 26 (Mac Catalyst).
We can’t wait for you to experience the future of journaling—where beautiful design meets meaningful self-reflection.
